Size
- Male: 1.4 mm.
- Female: 1.70 mm.
Distinguishing characteristics
- Cephalosome is rounded anteriorly in dorsal view and bears a pair of sharp points posteriorly (Dakin and Colefax 1940, Nyan Taw 1978).
Male
- Sharp points on posterior of cephalosome are asymmetrical in males.
- Males can be recognised by the structure of the right exopodite of the fifth leg (image 3 & 4).
Female
- A thick spine on the right side of the middle segment of the urosome is the characteristic feature of females of this species.
Distribution
- Epipalegic species.
- Inshore coastal, coastal and oceanic waters.
- Mouth of River Derwent (Ong 1967), originally identified from south-eastern Australian waters as Centropages kroyeri (Dakin and Colefax 1940).
