  • Umbrella up to 15 mm in height.
Distinguishing characteristics
  • Bougainvillia spp. can be recognised by having four radially placed clusters of marginal tentacles. There are many species in the genus.
Distribution
  • The genus Bougainvillia has a circum-polar distribution in the Southern Ocean and has been recorded in the northern hemisphere, perhaps via transport of the polyps on ships (O’Sullivan 1982a).
  • There are many species in the genus.
