Kim Evans
Mr Kim Evans was appointed Secretary of the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment (DPIPWE) in March 1999. Previously he was Secretary of the Department of Primary Industry and Fisheries. He has 20 years experience in the management of Tasmania’s primary industries and natural resources. He represents the State on a number of boards including Chair of the Tasmanian Institute of Agricultural Research and the Tasmanian Natural Resources Management Council. He is also the Government’s representative on the Board of SALTAS, a company established to assist the development of the Tasmanian salmon and trout industry. Kim has a science degree from the University of Tasmania and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Professor Colin Buxton
Professor Professor Colin Buxton is the Director of TAFI, is a graduate of the University of Cape Town where he obtained his MSc (cum laude), and Rhodes University in South Africa where he obtained his PhD in 1980. His research expertise is in inshore reef-associated fisheries and the use of marine protected areas as a fisheries management tool. He has published over 60 articles in the primary literature. Prior to joining TAFI Prof. Buxton had senior research management experience in the Department of Ichthyology and Fisheries Science at Rhodes University and the Australian Maritime College in Tasmania where he was head of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Environment. He also serves on the Board of the CRC Aquafin, Aquafin CRC Holdings Pty Ltd, Tasmanian Fisheries Research Advisory Board, Soccer Tasmania Ltd and Marine & Marine Industries Council.

Wes Ford
Wes Ford is the General Manager of the Primary Industries Division of Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment (DPIPWE), he is a Bachelor of Science graduate of the University of Tasmania, and holds a post graduate certificate in fisheries management from the Australian Maritime College. Mr Ford commenced his career in fisheries research, moving to fisheries management where he managed Tasmania’s rock lobster fishery for eight years. Prior to his current position Mr Ford was the Director of Marine Resources with DPIW. Mr Ford is a member of a number of national bodies related to the management of marine resources.
Gail Richey
Gail Richey is a Director of Trawline Pty Ltd, fisheries management consultants, and has been involved in a private capacity in Commonwealth fisheries in the south-eastern Australia for eighteen years. She is a Director of Richey Fishing Company Pty Ltd and Richey Services Pty Ltd, a Tasmanian fishing company operating in several fisheries including Tasmanian scallop, Australian salmon, Commonwealth Squid Jig and Commonwealth scallop.
Positions currently held include Executive Officer of the Commonwealth Fisheries Association Inc and the South East Trawl Fishing Industry Association Ltd.
Frances Bender
Frances Bender is a Director and Administration Manager of Huon Aquaculture Company Pty Ltd, Australia’s largest privately owned Atlantic salmon farm. She has been directly involved in the development of both her company and the Tasmanian industry since its inception in the mid 1980’s. Her company is recognised for its proactive role in research and development specifically targeted toward continuing growth and sustainability of a profitable and environmentally sound Tasmanian industry.
Frances is involved in numerous community boards and was awarded the RIRDC Tasmanian Rural Women’s Award in 2001 and was also the holder of the Centenary Medal for services to rural industry and the community.
Neil Stump
Neil Stump has been a commercial fisher for twenty four years operating principally in the Tasmanian rock lobster fishery. Neil is the current Chief Executive of the Tasmanian Fishing Industry Council (TFIC) and a past President of the TRLFA. He has represented the fishing industry on various boards and committees including TasFRAB, Crustacean FAC, Crustacean RAG, the rock lobster stock assessment working group, RLEAS and the ASIC SE MPA Steering Group. Neil has a BAS (Fisheries), a BSc (Hons) and is currently completing a M En. St. degree at UTAS.
Pheroze Jungalwalla
Mr Pheroze Jungalwalla has some 30 years experience working as a scientist and as a senior manager in the aquaculture industry in Australia. Most of his career has been involved with freshwater production of salmonids, but he also has some experience with commercial production of oysters and mussels. Over a number of years of service within the industry his role was expanded to attending to generic research, technical, and health needs of the industry, with the result that he has and continues to represent the industry on a range of State and national organisations and committees concerned with fish health and aquaculture research. Since 2003 Mr Jungalwalla has taken on a part time position as Executive Officer for the Tasmanian Salmonid Growers Association whilst also operating a private consultancy in aquaculture science and technology.
